Barbara Feldman / Abbot
Barbara is a Senior Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen. She has served as Director for the past 10 years and is a long-time member of the Center's Board of Trustees. She teaches an accredited yoga program at Boston University since 1980 and leads the weekly Boston University Zen Community.
Andrew "Woody" Wood / Do Gam (VIce Abbot)
Woody became a member of the Kwan Um School of Zen in 2009, a resident at CZC in 2011, and a Board member in 2017. In the past, he also served as our Housemaster and Guestmaster. He is a psychotherapist with a private practice in downtown Boston.
Bo-Mi Choi / Director
Bo-Mi has been living and practicing at the Cambridge Zen Center since fall 2004. She is a Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen and has served on the CZC Board since 2014. She also leads a weekly student meditation group at Harvard University, where she taught Philosophy and Critical Theory in the College for nearly a decade before embarking on her current career as a film and multi-media producer.
Jim Kopcienski / Head Dharma Teacher (HDT)
Jim began practicing Zen at the Cambridge Zen Center in 1992 and was a monk for 15 years. Aside from CZC he has lived at the Providence Zen Center and at monasteries in Korea and has held several staff positions, including abbot.
IAN WHITE MAHER / House Master
Ian began practicing with the Kwan Um School of Zen in the spring of 1998 and moved into CZC the summer of 2000 a month before he enrolled at Harvard Divinity School. He is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister who has served congregations in New York City and North Carolina. He recently moved into CZC again while he works on a book about the possibilities of spiritual transformation.
Kyung-ha Strange-lee / Kitchen Master
Kyungha Lee began practicing Zen in 2003 and has resided Cambridge Zen Center since 2013. She also works as an adjunct professor of communication at the State University of New York and as a yoga instructor at Boston University. She has served on the staff of the Sivananda Yoga Ranch in Woodbourne, NY as well as at the Zen Center of Syracuse, Hoen-ji, and has previously studied meditation in a number of traditions.
Paul Laurey / Guest Master
Paul is a contemporary dance artist, cognitive scientist, and contemplative practioner. He practices, dances, writes, teaches, and performs. Before moving to the Cambridge Zen center, Paul lived in San Diego, San Francisco, New York, Oregon, Virginia, and other wonderful places. He received a PhD in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Oregon and a MFA in Dance Theater from the University of California, San Diego. Paul has taken ten precepts with the Kwan Um School of Zen.
