Barbara Feldman / Abbot
Barbara is a Senior Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen. She served as Director of CZC for ten years before assuming the role as Abbot and is a long-time member of the Center's Board of Trustees. She teaches an accredited yoga program at Boston University since 1980 and leads the weekly Boston University Zen Community.
Bo-Mi Choi / Director
Bo-Mi has been living and practicing at the Cambridge Zen Center since fall 2004. She is a Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen and has served on the CZC Board since 2014. She also leads a weekly student meditation group at Harvard University, where she taught Philosophy and Critical Theory in the College for nearly a decade before embarking on her current career as a film and multi-media producer.
Jim Kopcienski / Head Dharma Teacher (HDT)
Jim began practicing Zen at the Cambridge Zen Center in 1992 and was a monk for 15 years. Aside from CZC he has lived at the Providence Zen Center and at monasteries in Korea and has held several staff positions, including abbot.
Patrick Horgan / House Master
Patrick has been a member of the Kwan Um School of Zen since 2015 and became a resident at CZC in April 2017. The oldest of five children, he was born and raised in Concord, MA. He holds a BS in Quantitative Analysis and Management from Bentley University and has professionally been working in new product development for computer and pharmaceutical companies. He is the father of an adult daughter and an adult son.
Kyung-ha Strange-lee / Kitchen Master
Kyungha began practicing Zen in 2003 and has resided Cambridge Zen Center since 2013. She also works as an adjunct professor of communication at the State University of New York and as a yoga instructor at Boston University. She has served on the staff of the Sivananda Yoga Ranch in Woodbourne, NY as well as at the Zen Center of Syracuse, Hoen-ji, and has previously studied meditation in a number of traditions.
Celanie Almquist / Guest Master
Celanie moved into CZC at the end of the summer of 2018 and has been practicing with the Kwan Um School ever since. She began learning about and practicing Zen Buddhism in 2011 when she was a student at Loyola University in New Orleans. Along with her journey in Buddhism she has been following a spiritual path traveling around the world for six months prior to returning to Boston and is currently focusing on wellness through breath work, clean food and dance while working at the urban organic café Life Alive. She just competed six weeks of winter kyolche at Diamond Hill Monastery at our head temple in Cumberland, RI.
Andrew "Woody" Wood / Work Master
Woody became a member of the Kwan Um School of Zen in 2009, a resident at CZC in 2011, and a Board member in 2017. In the past, he also served as our Housemaster, Guest Master and Vice-Abbot. He is a psychotherapist with a private practice in downtown Boston.
